EuroPride WeekendEuroPride09’s grande finale will be the festival from 5-7 June in the heart of Zurich. According to this year’s motto «Celebrating 40 Years With Pride» the festival and the great parade will offer fun, glamour and political content. Festival and parade are organized by Verein CSD Zurich: www.csdzurich.ch.
Parade The parade starts at 12.00 am with a Warm Up at the Gay Village and at Club Acqua (Hafen Enge). At 1 pm the parade party at Hafen Enge starts with the party label «Jungle», live performances, an outfit contest and a tombola. The parade with its numerous trucks will start to move at 3 pm. It will be presented and commented by famous European gay icons from two spots along the route. The Parade itself is going to be the biggest and most colourful Gay-Parade that Zurich has ever seen. However, it is above all a political demonstration for acceptance, tolerance and against discrimination, the creation of taboo’s and violence on grounds of sexual orientation. Political speakers include the politician and publicist Daniel Cohn Bendit, the mayor of Zurich city, Corinne Mauch and the Moldovan human rights activist Mihaela Copot.
FestivalCelebrating 40 Years with Pride“ is our motto and that’s what we’re going to do! We’re celebrating our anniversary with a big City Party, and we need to thank the people of Zurich and Switzerland for their open-mindedness and acceptance. (something which unfortunately can’t be said about every country.) The EuroPride09 festival will take place in the very heart of Zurich right by the lake: the beautiful Münsterhof, Stadthausquai and Stadthausanlage. It will set in 5pm on Friday and continue Saturday noon until Sunday 01.30 am. The great stage on Münsterhof will offer free concerts of national and international bands and DJ’s, speeches and other performances. On Friday there will be the Swiss premiere of AIDSwalk (5pm) and as well a Afterwork and Networking Apero; on Saturday the CSD-Stonewall-Award will be handed to an organization or person who stand up for equal rights for LGBT people. The stage on Stadthausanlage will entertain you with international live-DJ’s who will heat up the crowd. EuroPride09 in Zurich will have its contemplative finale with a large brunch at industrial Evenhall «Puls 5» (10am-4pm) and with an ecumenical service at Frauenmünster church (2pm).
